Lenny's back to the Romeo Blue days, just without the locks and Lisa Bonet… "It Is Time For A Love Revolution" feels like his debut album cut in a more contemporary studio. He's back in his vintage stride of late sixties to early seventies fuzzy love rock. The tambourine-tinged stomp of "Love Revolution" truly sounds like it belongs on some obscure second CD to "Let Love Rule."

"Bring It On" may be too close of a pull from Led Zeppelin for classic rocks lovers (especially since the mighty Zep's have reunited), but "Confused" trickles down the belly marvelously with its shady blues. The Britishly joyful "Good Morning" employs sparse strings to remind the listener of recent sixties period movies like "Across the Universe." "Love Love Love" frees you from the excess of the times with a likeminded, stripped down groove. "A Long and Sad Goodbye" surprises with its spatial resonance, overlapping harmonies and ode self-fulfilling prophecy. "Dancin' Till Dawn" adequately taps the early-seventies soulfulness of the Rolling Stones, complete with saxophone.

After a while, Kravitz runs the risk of being formulaic. Fear not, cuts like "Uncharted Terrain" make it artistically expansive enough to not sound repetitive. What's more, the sincerity in Kravitz's voice does a fair enough job on its own of suspending any suspicions of forced packaging. "It Is Time For A Love Revolution" is a much-needed, sonic stroll through a vintage sixties/seventies clothing store full of anti-establishment literature, bongs and tie-dyed clothes. You just happen to have a scrappy-voiced brother with a guitar and unreal abs as your tour guide.
