What's the deal fam? I must say, it has been a
while. Check it. I was approached by a "slim
frame", who pushed a product my way. The "slim
frame" wanted to know if I knew about Wicked
Wisdom. Wicked Wisdom is the heavy metal group that
Jada Pinckett-Smith was with. I was in the know,
but not in the possession. Slim said, "to each,
his reach". It is now mines to have. Without
further delay, let's get right to it.
The self-entitled project really captures, and
says it all folks. Wisdom is the knowledge gained
through the experience of pain. If you transmit
those lessons through a medium that is the hardest
metal heard in the underground. You are indeed wicked.
Imagine that coming at you at high volume, with
high velocity, 10 tracks strong. The subject matter
was painful, full of conflict, and thought provoking.
For those of you who have not heard the project,
I know you want me to share my thought on Jada Koren.
I will say this. I was shocked, and I loved her
on it. Jada could actually hold a note. Jada even
had the grundge-metal growl down. That Sugar Honey
Ice Tea was scary!! I imagine that this is not a
publicity stunt by putting Jada on the front mic.
If it was, somebody may not get their spot back.
I thought that the tracks were produced well. The
band stayed true to the genre, and kept it hard.
I can tell that they must be wicked as hell live
on stage. I would sacrifice greenbacks to see them.
If you like your metal hard, you would most likely
feel this.
Now, for my jabs. The creative inspiration for
the project seemed to get tired at times. When I
listened to the tracks one at a time, then stopped,
I would feel it. When I listened to the project
in total, I felt like it all meshed together. Nine
of the Ten tracks were too much alike. The tracks
seemed to show musical variations within itself,
but not across the whole. Secondly, Jada would often
get caught in a robotic, choppy-typed delivery on
numerous tracks. Jada sounds great holding the note.
Jada's singing talent could have been played on
more in her delivery. I thought she held it down
well enough to go there. This may just be my gripe,
but I was disappointed that there was not a single
guitar solo on the whole project. How in the hell
do you have a heavy metal project, and not give
the strings some!
Well peeps, I must run. Overall, the project stands
well on it's own. I can tell that they are great
live, but in this microwave industry, you have to
grab your audience quick. Once you grab them, then
you have to entertain them. This project allowed
my interest to wander at times. I give this project
a 2 on the rating scale, with the hopes that a follow
up project will be more diversified in it's sound.
